ICT

The department provides hardware, software and networking technical support and advice to the College of Medicine faculty and students. Currently, there are two senior personnel and two technicians on the ground.  The College has the following ICT facilities:

  • A well engineered network infrastructure that connects all the buildings at Mahatma Gandhi campus, departments in the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital and College of Medicine Research Affiliates using a fiber optic cable.
  • A VSAT that directly provides Internet connection to the college with adequate bandwidth to support the college large community of staff, students and researchers.
  • WIFI on Mahatma Gandhi campus and hostels in addition to Internet connection in all offices and classrooms.
  • Computer rooms that provide Internet access to students, one of which is open 24/7 throughout the year.

The College has a Students Register Information System (SARIS) which is used to manage students’ records such as bio-data, academic records, financial records, accommodation records, production of transcripts and generation of administrative reports. SARIS is also able to assist in delivery of lectures through facility which allows lectures to post notes and assignments to students. It is also manages electronic voting of student government among many other good facilities. In addition, the college has a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which facilitates teaching and learning.
